We are delighted to announce that the Workshop on Multilingual Language Acquisition, Processing and Use (L3 Workshop • Tokyo) will be hosted by the Department of English Studies in the Faculty of Letters at Chuo University in Tokyo and will take place on the university’s Tama Campus on May 17-19, 2024. This workshop is the eighth in a series of successful meetings that have taken place in Stockholm (January 2009), Iowa City (June 2010), Vitoria-Gasteiz (May 2012), Tromsø (March 2015), Poznań (May 2017), Konstanz (May 2019), and London (2022). Its main goal is to bring together researchers interested in multilingual language acquisition, processing and use from around the globe. The conference will take place exclusively on-site.

Submission instructions:

Abstract submissions are invited for original, unpublished work on any area of multilingual language acquisition, processing, or use from any theoretical perspective. We welcome submissions for either oral presentation (30 minutes, including 10-minute discussion) or poster presentation. Acceptable abstracts in excess of the available slots in the program will be offered a place in the poster session. In addition, we intend to include one parallel session for oral presentations in Japanese in the program. Abstracts for this session should be submitted in Japanese.

Abstract submissions for oral presentations are limited to one first-author and up to one additional co-author submission, for a maximum of two oral-paper submissions per person. Poster presentations are limited to one first-author submission, and there is no limit on co-author poster submissions.

All abstracts must include title and text up to one page (A4 or US Letter) with 2.5 cm (1-inch) margins on all sides in a 12-point font (Times New Roman preferred), or 11-point Mincho for abstracts in Japanese. An additional page may be included with examples, tables, figures, and references. Abstracts must be submitted as a PDF file with no identifiable personal information.
