The African Pragmatics Association, in conjunction with the Department of English, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria invites you to its 3rd conference at the University of Ibadan Campus from February 19 to 21, 2024 under the theme: “Pragmatics and global security.” This conference will be a meeting of academics, students and public policy makers worldwide whose interest lies in the contextually-grounded language use and its interface attainment of peace and security in Africa. Abstracts for papers, panels and posters on (but not limited to) the following sub-themes are welcome.

Submission instructions:

Format for submissions and paper presentation details

Individual papers and posters: 200-250 words
Proposal for panels: 500 words
All submissions should be made in Times New Roman, 12pt.
Paper presentations will be for 20 minutes followed by a 10-minute discussion

There will be 120 minutes for each panel

Proposals for panels should include:
Title of the panel
Convener
Proposed panellist(s)
Discussant (if necessary)
Language (if different from English)

The language of the conference is English (but panels may be organized in other languages e.g. Kiswahili, Arabic, French, German, Portuguese, or other regional languages). All submissions should be sent via EasyAbs.
