Cultures and Languages in Contact (CLC)

Nov. 25, 2025 - Nov. 26, 2025

The Applied Language and Culture Studies Laboratory (ALCS) invites scholars, researchers, and advanced doctoral students to submit proposals for its 7th International Conference on “Cultures and Languages in Contact”, to be held at the Faculty of Letters and Humanities, Chouaib Doukali University, El Jadida, Morocco, on November 25–26, 2025.
This annual interdisciplinary gathering offers a dynamic platform for intellectual exchange around the multifaceted intersections of language, culture, and translation. The 2025 edition seeks to expand the conversation by welcoming contributions that address contemporary challenges and innovations in areas such as multilingualism, cross-cultural communication, identity construction, language policy, and intercultural pragmatics.
The conference aspires to bring together voices from across disciplines—including linguistics, translation studies, cultural studies, education, digital humanities, and media studies—to reflect on how language and culture interact, evolve, and influence each other in increasingly globalized and technologically mediated contexts. Particular attention will be paid to emerging research paradigms, theoretical frameworks, and methodological innovations that shed light on evolving linguistic and cultural phenomena.
Proposals will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process by a committee of experienced scholars. Submissions must demonstrate originality, solid theoretical grounding, and methodological clarity. Only those proposals that meet high scholarly standards and offer significant academic contributions will be selected for presentation.
This conference also provides a space for networking, collaboration, and research dissemination, making it an excellent opportunity for both established and emerging scholars to engage with current debates and develop new scholarly partnerships.
We welcome submissions from diverse linguistic and cultural perspectives and encourage interdisciplinary approaches that enrich the ongoing dialogue on languages and cultures in contact.
