The 22nd International Morphology Meeting will be held in Budapest, Hungary, from May 28th through 31st, 2026, organized by the ELTE Research Centre for Linguistics (formerly known as the Research Institute for Linguistics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences). The meeting will consist of a main session, a poster session, and two to four workshops, in keeping with the traditions.

We invite papers on subjects including, but not limited to, the main topic of the conference:

* Atypical Morphology*

The leitmotif of the conference is going beyond the boundaries. This may include but is not limited to such diverse topics as theory-challenging morphological processes; constraint-violating and rule-bending word formation and inflection; marginal word formation processes; the morphological characteristics of dominantly isolating languages; non-agglutinative features in agglutinative languages; and many more. Besides the leitmotif, we also welcome papers on any other phenomena related to morphology.

Submission instructions:

The 22nd International Morphology Meeting will be held in Budapest, Hungary, from May 28th through 31st, 2026, organized by the ELTE Research Centre for Linguistics (formerly known as the Research Institute for Linguistics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences). The meeting will consist of a main session, a poster session, and six workshops. We invite papers on subjects including, but not limited to, the main topic of the conference: "Atypical Morphology". All presentations (including posters) are planned for in-person presentation.

Abstract submission for the main session and the poster session:
Two-page abstracts are solicited on any aspect of morphology, or its interaction with any other module of grammar, for 20-minute oral presentations (plus 10 minutes for discussion) or a poster. Submission is limited to one individual and one joint authorship abstract (or two joint authorship ones) per person. Abstracts must be in PDF format, and should not exceed two A/4 pages including data and references. The abstracts should have 1″ / 2.5cm margins on all sides, set in a font no smaller than 12 points, should have a clear title and should not reveal the identity of the author(s). All submissions must indicate whether the abstract is to be considered for a talk or a poster. Abstracts can only be submitted electronically, using EasyAbs. Abstracts sent in by any other means will not be considered.

Abstracts for the workshops:
The workshop organizers are responsible for managing their abstract submission and evaluation procedure, therefore abstracts for the workshops should be submitted directly to them, through the channel(s) determined by them. For details, please consult the “Workshops” page of the conference website.

Please note that any single author can be involved in at most two presentations, and this restriction applies to the whole of the event, including the workshops. Furthermore, any single abstract can only be submitted to either the main session (including the poster session), or one of the workshops, but not both. Abstracts submitted to multiple sessions will NOT be considered for the main session or the poster session at all.

Submissions open: Sept. 6, 2025 - Oct. 31, 2025
