The Northwest Linguistics Conference (NWLC) is an annual graduate student-run conference in linguistics centered on themes of language in the Northwestern region of North America. This conference is hosted in alternating years by Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, the University of Victoria, and the University of Washington.

The 40th NWLC will be hosted by the Linguistics Society at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, from May 4-5, 2024. NWLC is an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students to share their work and meet colleagues in the region. Researchers of all tenures are encouraged to submit relevant work.

Submission instructions:

Abstracts for work from any area of linguistics are welcomed. The conference will include both oral presentations (20 minutes with 10 minutes for Q&A) and a poster session. Following the conference, participants will be given the opportunity to submit short papers to the proceedings, which will be published as a special edition of the UW Working Papers in Linguistics.

Abstracts should be submitted online via EasyAbs by 5:00 PM PST on February 02, 2024. Abstracts should be fully anonymized and no more than 300 words in length, excluding references. Abstracts will not be accepted by email.
