The Brazilian Student Council Symposium (BR-SCS) is a conference dedicated to promoting and engaging COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY research in an edition-specific field. The event is organized by the Regional Student Group Brazil (RSG-Brazil), affiliated to the Student Council - International Society of Computational Biology (ISCB-SC). We are a student organization that aims to assist the next generation of computational biologists, through the promotion of scientific events, networking opportunities, soft-skills training, and career advice.

This year, the 7th BR-SCS will be focused on Neglected Diseases. This is a group of diseases composed of 20 conditions caused by a variety of pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi and toxins. They are prevalent mainly in tropical and third world countries, due to factors associated with poverty, such as inadequate access to clean water, sanitation and housing. These diseases cause devastating health, social and economic consequences for more than one billion people.

This symposium brings together keynote lectures and panels by distinguished scientists in the field of computational biology who have notable scientific production in the area of neglected diseases. Moreover, the BR-SCS is an opportunity for attendees to develop soft skills as they submit and present their research projects in English.

The 7th BR-SCS will be held ONLINE, from 17th to 18th November.
