The International Conference on Language Teaching: focus on form (CELF) aims to be an encounter space to exchange knowledge and research in process or results from projects and studies about language teaching and methodologies which focus on form (Nassaji 2017). Moreover, we encourage the exchange of knowledge and teaching experience between the Academia and the teaching experience in schools.
This conference is part of a research project about the application of Cognitive Construction Grammar (Goldberg, 1995, 2006; Ellis, 2013; De Knop & Gilquin, 2016) to the teaching of Catalan grammar as an additional language (Segura-Llopes et al. 2023). During the school year 2023-2024, an intervention is being carried out with the collaboration of teachers and educational centers in the Valencian country and in Catalonia and with the support of CEFIRE (Generalitat Valenciana) and Serveis Educatius de la Generalitat de Catalunya, under the direction of prof. Carles Segura and prof. Andreu Sentí.
Thus, there will be two kinds of presentations:
OPTION A. Studies about linguistics applied to language teaching, acquisition of additional languages and pedagogy:
- Focus on form in the language teaching-learning process
- Teaching grammar and a communicative approach of language teaching
- Cognitive Linguistics and Construction Grammar applications to language teaching
- Contact language, minoritised languages and language teaching: attitude and spoken language
- Corpus linguistics, new technologies, and artificial intelligence in language teaching
OPTION B. Experiences or materials of teachers of L1 or additional language:
- Teaching experiences and applications of the participants in the intervention on Applied Construction Grammar
- Other teaching experiences, specially on spoken language or linguistic attitudes
- Creation of original materials related to language teaching and language learning

Submission instructions:
The researchers or teachers interested in participating can send a presentation proposal before the 25th March. The proposal must contain: (1) the title of the presentation; (2) the kind of presentation (option A or B); (3) an abstract that shall not exceed 500 words (excluding examples and references), and (4) five keywords. Proposals must be anonymous, both regarding the personal information of the file and the references and self-citations.
The presentations shall have a duration of 20 minutes and 8 minutes of discussion. The conference languages will be Catalan, Spanish, and English.
The proposals for a talk must be submitted via the platform EasyAbs (https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/conference/CELF).
After the submission period, the conference’s scientific committee will assess the received proposals of talk. The results of the review will be notified before the 3th May.
